Dehua “Oliver” Sun is an Assistant Instructional Professor of Political Science in MAPSS. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Rochester and holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Lafayette College. He studies authoritarian politics, public opinion, and political psychology.

Professor Sun’s dissertation, Attributions in Chinese Public Opinion, examines how citizens attribute credit and blame to the government. The findings suggest that while individuals are prone to cognitive biases, they are also capable of making informed evaluations despite limited information.
