
As the Graduate Recruitment Manager for the Division of the Social Sciences Dean of Students Office, Riyanna focuses on supporting students as they take their first steps in navigating their graduate studies journey. From hosting informational application sessions to connecting with students 1:1, Riyanna’s main goal is to aid students in achieving their academic goals.
With a background in recruitment, Riyanna has navigated the corporate world of technology, finance, and education recruitment.
Riyanna holds a BS in Psychology and Child Development and an MBA with a concentration in Business Analytics.
In Riyanna’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, trying new restaurants, and going on nature walks.

Dom Williams (they/them) is the Student Affairs Administrator for MAPSS, where they serve as the first point of contact for current and prospective students.
Dom has over five years of experience coaching and empowering graduate students as they navigate life's challenges. They have over 10 years of experience building curricula and spaces that welcome our authentic selves while pursuing greater opportunities.
Dom completed two years of service in the AmeriCorps program at Cristo Rey Boston High School. They earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Dayton and a Master of Art in Counseling Psychology from Boston College.

Darcy Hughes Heuring is the Director of MAPSS. She oversees the operation of the program in close collaboration with the Faculty Director. This includes strategic planning, oversight of MAPSS professors, academic hiring, curricular policies and planning, academic policies and procedures, and new initiatives.
Dr. Heuring earned her PhD in History from Northwestern University, her MA from MAPSS, and a BA from the University of Idaho. Her research and teaching interests include the social and cultural history of nineteenth- and twentieth-century Britain and its empire, European colonialism and decolonization, the history of gender and sexuality, the colonial Caribbean, and the history of medicine and public health. Her recent course offerings include Historical Methods and Gender, Sex, and Empire.
Dr. Heuring has been a Mellon Fellow at the Institute of Historical Research in London, a Presidential Fellow at Northwestern University, and is a recipient of the Shryock Medal (awarded by the American Association for the History of Medicine).

Emma Rubenstein (she/her) is the MAPSS-Econ and MACSS-Econ Student Affairs Administrator and serves as a first point of contact for current and prospective students in these programs. She maintains the administrative aspects of several departmental processes including registration, thesis production, curricular fulfillment, graduation, admissions, and student events.
Emma earned her BA from DePaul University and has worked in higher education administration for almost a decade at numerous Universities across Chicago. Please reach out to her with any Econ MA-related inquiries.

Sparkle Dalphinis (she/her) is the Director of Graduate Admissions and Enrollment for the Social Sciences Division at UChicago. She has years of experience working in undergraduate and graduate recruitment. Sparkle works closely with MA programs within SSD to support the recruitment and enrollment of students in the program.

Chad Cyrenne (he/him) is the Executive Director of MA Programs and Assistant Dean in the Social Sciences Division. He supports the academic and administrative leadership in MAPSS, MACSS, and CIR. He oversees our institutional operations, collaborates with the Dean of Students on academic and curricular policy, and helps lead Divisional efforts in MA program development.
Dr. Cyrenne earned his PhD from the University of Chicago (Political Science), a CEP from the Institut d’Etudes politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), a BA from Amherst College, and an IB from the Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific. He taught as Senior Lecturer at UChicago (Political Theory) before assuming his current position.
